CFD Analysis of a Race Car Body
Location
Dallas, Texas
Date
2024
Role
CFD Analyst
Project type
Aerodynamic Simulation
Tools
ANSYS Fluent, CFD-Post
Focus Area:
External Aerodynamics, Drag & Downforce Analysis
Speed Range
60–200 km/h simulated wind tunnel tests
This project involved performing a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of a high-performance race car body using ANSYS Fluent. The primary objective was to evaluate aerodynamic characteristics at various speeds, focusing on drag and downforce behavior.
The model was prepared with a high-quality mesh, and boundary conditions were applied to simulate wind tunnel testing conditions. Post-processing included visualization of flow separation, pressure distribution, and streamlines to assess design performance and guide aerodynamic improvements.
